So for those that hadn't noticed, this blog has been relegated to a pregnancy diary (and barely that) for a loooooong time now. =/ In all honesty, I have had time to update on other happenings in our lives...I just haven't really cared to. I think my last "life" update was over a year ago. Yikes!
On that note, in non-talked about pregnancy news. This pregnancy has definitely been different then my others. Living rural is sooo odd! I have not seen my OB as regularly as I normally would & so I haven't been the best about updating regarding my visits. At this point, I am FINALLY actually being seen weekly, but prior to this visit last Friday I hadn't been seen for a month. Ooops! I did my Glucose testing SUPER late at almost 33 weeks & failed my 1 hour. =( UGH! I had to do the 3 hour two days later before we headed south for Christmas & thank the good Lord, I passed. That was definitely NOT an exciting weekend. At my Friday visit, all was well & my BP was actually lower then it had been in a while. Baby girl's heartrate was strong & she is STILL head down! I had to my BST & I guess I'll find out next Friday if I passed or not. My OB is not in the office this next week, but I will FINALLY get to see/meet one of the other OBs in the practice (which is nice in case she delivers me). I have no clue about what baby girl is doing otherwise as I honestly have no desire to be "checked." It means nada anyway since she's going to come when she comes.
This week I've been doing more work on the nursery, but I can't do a lot of organizing yet since we still need to move around some of the furniture/get a shelf put together. Over the last week, I have collected pretty much all of the last little things we need for baby girl & have even started to wash baby things including all the newborn clothes. Once we pick up H's new dresser we can move the changing table into the nursery & I can really finish up the organizing & finishing decorating touches. I may do a post all the about the nursery later on, but I think I'll wait until it's more complete. I've also been doing a lot of non-essential shopping for baby this last week or so... =) I can't help it, honestly!! Buying baby girls clothes & shoes & bows & accessories is just too much fun. Regardless, we have quite a few more packages headed our way in the coming weeks.
The boys are doing well for the most part, they are both very 2 & very 4. Both ages can be so fun & yet so challenging at the same time. Carter is in preschool again this year & he is loving 4K! He is such a smart, intuitive kid that he continues to amaze me every day. He still really likes trains, but he LOVES legos & building things right now. He spends a lot of time writing & drawing & trying to figure out what things mean. He got a LeapReader for Christmas & he really enjoys practicing his reading/writing skills with that. He's becoming a lot more independent since turning 4 & is a very good helper with his little brother. He still has issues with listening & still becomes VERY easily distracted while trying to complete a task asked of him at home. For the most part, he is still very well behaved & is definitely still the "good" child as far as being naughty is concerned. He's still pretty cautious about trying new things & he is definitely still my sensitive boy as far as emotions are concerned. He's SUPER excited to be the big brother to a little sister & kisses my belly every night before he goes to bed. He moved into H's room early last month & upgraded to a full-size bed. He absolutely LOVES being in a "big" bed & the boys are doing very well with room sharing.
Holden is a very typical two-year old. He has major melt-downs compared to what we dealt with as far as C was concerned at this age. He still gets easily frustrated & lacks any kind of patience what-so-ever. He's still working on learning how to share & get along with other kiddos. He's still a tiny little peanut & at his two year WCC (which was two months late) weighed in at only 23 pounds, 10 ounces. I don't recall what his height was at the moment, but I do know that he was right in the 50%. Both boys got the flu mist during that appt & did surprisingly well with it considering. He is still my adventurous little man & often injures himself in typical boy fashion. He's hilariously funny & loves to make us laugh as well as his brother. He moved out of the crib & into C's old twin bed like a total champ & has had very few bad nights in the last month & a half. He loves sharing a room with his brother & as a bonus they entertain each other in the morning letting us sleep in a little longer (which is much appreciated right now). He still really likes the Paw Patrol, but he is WAY into Thomas just like C was at this age. His communication skills are improving every day & he understands a lot more then we think most of the time. He is NOT as excited about becoming a big brother & honestly is still VERY much the baby right now. I'm honestly afraid at this point of what his reaction to his new sibling is going to be.
I'm sure I mentioned somewhere that we did buy a house in the spring last year & I feel like we have settled in quite nicely although things are still constantly a work in progress. We LOVE our new house & I have had a ton of fun making it into a home for us. K is really enjoying his work & we look forward to a possible advancement for him in the near future. We still go home about once a month or so to visit with family/friends & so that K can put in his time. He also has quite a few side projects going on (as per the usual) & loves having a functioning garage with space to work on his projects/hobbies. We get out of town for the day just about every-to every other weekend to a bigger city so that we don't go stir crazy & have the chance to shop NOT online. I've been watching my friend's girls to make a little extra money while she teaches & that will stop for a few months here in about 2 weeks. It's been fun for the boys to have them here, but it's been quite the adventure/challenge for me to have 4 kids to care for the majority of the day. We're not sure what will happen next year when the 4 year olds are in school full-time, but it's too soon to tell at this point.
I'm really looking forward to the new year & what adventures it is going to bring to our new family of 5! I can't believe we will have our baby girl here in just a few short weeks to complete our family. =)
