Stats:
Carter weighed in at 10lbs. 4.4oz for week 10 & 10lbs. 13.6oz for week 11 & is 23.5in long! My baby is finally a 10 pounder! lol I am actually starting to see the baby fat gathering on his adorable little body. He now has rolls on his little legs & his face really seems to be filling out now. Also, his hair seems to be growing longer & curlier making it even more unruly then before.
Milestones:
-First time sleeping in the crib overnight--Yay! So proud of my baby. He did really well too staying asleep until his usual 02:30AM then going back to bed in his crib until 6AM. Unfortunately, it's been hit & miss since then, but we are continuing our efforts. I am thinking of investing in a sound/white noise machine to see if that makes a difference.
-First time wearing shoes--Momma was mostly playing around, but he does look adorable in little baby shoes. =)
-First laugh--Music to my ears! I was blowing raspberries on his tummy & it just came out. He has been doing it more & more frequently ever sense. You can tell that sometimes he is trying, but it's like he just can't quite get the sound out. It's so fun to try to find new ways to get him to crack up. I can't wait until he is laughing all the time.

-First time being away from mommy for a whole day. =( -- I am back at work this week & he has had some interesting days. I know they say it is harder on me then it is on him, but I seriously think he misses me too! Both nights I worked 12s he did not sleep until after I got home & rocked him. Not to mention, when I come home (or like today when he came to visit me at work) he will go from angry to super happy just at the sight of mommy. It warms my heart. Makes it SUPER hard to leave him though. It's moments like that where I wish I could be a SAHM.
-First night sleeping unswaddled--it really is too bad too because I has JUST purchased a swaddle strap. He pretty much refuses to be swaddled at this point. He loves to sleep with his hands above his head & since it doesn't seem to make a real difference in how long he sleeps we have been just going without it.
In Other News:
Carter is getting more & more active these past two weeks, both physically & socially. He keeps trying desperately to roll over & I am sure he will manage it any day now. =) He still is HATING on the tummy time & we are only able to do 5 mins. at a time before he starts protesting quite loudly. It seems to help if he is on someone's chest versus on the floor. He literally refuses to perform & will turn his head to the side & suck on his hand instead. Lazy boy! However, if he is on your shoulder or in the Bumbo he loves to lift his head & crane his neck around to look at things. He has also started to do this thing where he throws his neck & head backwards when we are carrying him so he can look at the ceiling. Apparently he gets a kick out of the upside-down perspective.
He is still a little chatter box & makes cooing, oooing & gooing noises ALL THE TIME. He loves to "talk" to & smile at anyone who will listen to him. He seems to be very spirited & will definitely let you know how he is feeling. He loves playing with his toys & can even manage to grab & bat at them with some actual coordination. He finds it completely hilarious whenever someone sneezes, snorts, pants, farts or just makes funny noises at him in general. He also finds voices on the television extremely hilarious, especially cartoon character voices. We have noticed him looking around at things a lot more, including the television & he will seriously stare at things for a good 20 mins. just mesmerized. It's as if he is realizing that these things are there for the very first time. His eyesight must be improving? =)
His clogged tear duct has seemed to resolve all on it's own this week & I pray that it is gone for good! It's so nice to not have to deal with goopy eyes, even if they bugged mommy more then baby. =)
We bumped up the amount in his bottles this week to 4.25oz (4.5 was too much). He was taking 4oz pretty consistently every 2.5-3 hours, but after what I think was his 3 month growth spurt last week he was back to wanting to eat every 1.5-2 hours. It's taken a little trial & error to get the amount right, but 4.25 seems to be doing it for now. I am sure in a few weeks we will be making the increase to 4.5 officially.
He is still in size 1 diapers, but I am not sure for how much longer. They seem to once again be getting a bit tight around his little legs & we have been dealing with a lot more blow outs lately. I may just end up bumping him up to the size 2s when we run out of 1s. Speaking of diapers getting too tight...he is finally starting to put on some baby fat & is looking less like a newborn all the time. His cheeks are finally starting to fill out & he is getting little fat rolls on his legs finally.
We're still working on the whole sleep thing. It's still hit or miss during the day & he is yet to be on any REAL schedule. I've stopped stressing over it though & am just going with the flow. He is sleeping in his crib more regularly, but he doesn't sleep well & we have also nearly stopped swaddling all together. He seems to hate it these days more then he did in the past. I think our days of swaddling at all are coming to a close.
