Busy Bees (+ a weekend recap)

Gosh, I have definitely been absent lately & I feel like so much has happened since the last time I ACTUALLY posted. It was definitely a struggle to even get H's 8.5 month post up on time & I missed his 8 month post altogether. =( Time just seems to be flying by lately & we always seem to be on the go. Sitting down to tap something out at the end of the night has just not been high on my list of to-dos lately. And that, coupled with the fact that my hand/wrist are still killing me doesn't exactly spell perfect writing conditions.
Wearing the splint

Some of you know & some of you don't, but H & I had an accident almost two & a half weeks ago on Friday. We were headed out to grab some coffee & I was carrying H on my left hip along with my purse. I started down my parent's front porch steps & missed the second step down. I tried to catch our fall as well as I could on my right side, but the combined weight of H & my purse threw us the rest of the way to the ground. I am just so thankful that neither of us hit our heads as we fell onto the concrete walk. H ended up hitting his leg on the

walk, but I thought he was okay at first. He was screaming initially, but I thought it was more from fear & shock then being injured. I picked us both up & went back into the house to clean myself up. I checked H & fortunately, he wasn't bleeding & only had very minor scrapes on his left leg. I didn't fair as well & ended up with bad road rash on my right elbow/arm, palm, knee, lower leg & toes. I also had a tiny bit of a scrape on my left knee as well & my right hand was in some severe pain. We tried unsuccessfully to calm H down for about 30 mins. I knew he was overly tired, but when he refused to even calm down to nurse I knew something wasn't right. I decided to take us both into UC at my old work & we both got x-rays since I had noticed by that time that H wasn't moving his left leg much & when I shifted him into different positions he would cry. The x-rays showed that I only had a sprain, but that H had a fractured femur. =( The break is just above his knee & was fortunately not displaced. They cleaned me up a bit more, put us both in splints & made H an appt to see the Orthopedic specialist for the following Tuesday. We were supposed to head home the next day (Saturday), but since they had already made H an appt we just decided to stick around & head home on Tuesday evening. K did a couple more days out at the base to cover us being there. H was pretty miserable that first day & he HATED the splint since we wouldn't really let him move around in it. By Tuesday, we were praying that they would cast him. H & I met K at the Orthopedist's office & fortunately they did end up casting him. Since it was more of a fold then a true fracture & since it was fairly minor & kids heal & grow so fast, H only has to be immobilized for 3 weeks! Which means that he will be able to get his cast off THIS Friday!! We are so excited because we leave for SunRiver that day & I really wanted him to be able to enjoy the waterpark they have there.

So other then spending a month + at home, we arrived back VERY late (think midnight) two weeks ago tomorrow. Yep, I had barely gotten us settled back in & unpacked before my ILs sprung on us that they were coming for a visit. My ILs arrived last Thursday & were here for the Fourth of July holiday. We spent the evening BBQing at a friend's house & had a great time! C even got to stay up late to watch the fireworks & laser light show at the dam. H slept through ALL of it. And by that, I mean he went to sleep at 8PM (in a pack n' play in our friend's guest room) & did not make one.single.peep all night long. We had to wake him up when it was time to go home. One could venture to say that not a single damn was given by H about the dam fireworks. =)

On Saturday, we headed to Spokane to do some exploring. We all had lunch together at an Irish grill in downtown near a huge park that follows the river. After lunch, K & his dad went to check out some new cars & MIL went with the boys & I over to check out the park. It was insanely hot out in the sun, so after exploring the park for a little bit we decided to head out to do some shopping. We met up with K & FIL at Target later on & headed home from there. We stopped for some Starbucks on the way home & then had pizza from a local place for dinner. It turned into another late night for the kiddos & I didn't end up getting to jump in the shower until almost 9:30PM. Ugh.

Big Red Wagon

Sunday morning, C slept in pretty late & woke up with a fever. =( We should have known that something wasn't right when he barely ate at all the day before & even turned down a cookie when I offered him one at dinner. He also slept on the way to Spokane & all the way back home. We gave him some Ibuprofen around 9:30AM & he was still sleeping when I got home from church just after noon. After putting C back to bed, I fed H & K laid him down too for an early nap. I headed off to church alone & it was a much needed break & recharge for this momma. We just hung out at the house the rest of the day while my FIL went off to ride his motorcycle for a bit. C finally woke up & mostly lounged in front of the TV all day. He bounced back a little bit come the evening & did spend some time outside while K & FIL BBQed, but still didn't eat much during the day. He never did show any other signs of being sick & so I am attributing his feeling ill to just being overly tired & possibly getting too much sun the last week.

As an aside, he slept in SUPER late this morning & woke up without a fever. As the day has progressed he seems to be coming back to himself. =) The ILs also left this morning & K is back to work so it's business as usual around these parts once again. Now we have to start preparing for SunRiver on Friday! Wow!!
