Lake Chelan

I feel like I can barely keep up with a normal blog post, but once every few weeks. =( I really thought that things were going to slow down coming into the end of summer, but alas we are still go-go-go.

My best friend & her fiance came to visit us over Labor Day weekend & despite being down & out with a bit of a cold, we had a great time! We are so fortunate that we live in a part of our state that is more central & a lot of fun places are only a couple hours (or less) from us. On Saturday, we got up fairly early & decided to take a day trip to check out Chelan since none of us had ever been before & it was only about an hour & a half trek. Guys, let me tell you now...we were not disappointed!

We were lucky & H napped most of the way there. We parked in Old town & walked to Starbucks for some coffee first thing. I wore H in the sling the whole time since we didn't have room to pack the double with 6 people in the car & it worked out amazingly well.

After Starbucks, where C enjoyed himself a cake pop, we checked out a local farmer's market, stopped by the historical museum & took a ride on the train at Riverwalk Park. After the train ride we had lunch at this amazing restaurant called Campbell's. I had the best grilled chicken sandwich I have a had in a long time & they have a great view from the dining room which resulted in a lot of fun people watching while we ate. I nursed H in the car afterward & then we headed down to the beach for a little bit to walk around & check out the Lake.

Afterward we drove around a little bit to explore the area by car & so that H could nap again. We found out that Chelan has a really fun water park, but it was the last weekend that they were going to be open for the season. It will be so much fun to take the kids next summer when H is a bit older & is walking around on his own.

When H had napped for a bit we got out of the car & decided to walk down to one of the local ice cream shops. Carter was excited to pick him own flavor & get his very own cup! H shared a bit off of my cone. =) After finishing up our ice cream we decided to go on the River Walk around the lake & do a bit more exploring. Carter had a lot of fun running around on the path & exploring all of the little areas along the way. He especially loved the wooden bridge until he tripped & bit his lip. =( Fortunately, it was a pretty minor injury & he got over it fairly quickly.

We headed back home after our little walk about, but overall it was a great day trip. I definitely seeing us frequenting Chelan as it was an adorable little town with lots to explore & lots of fun to be had.
