Appt: Friday, August 21 at 16 weeks, 6 days.
My appt this time was scheduled for 9:40AM & once again I took C along with me for the ride. Things started out well enough as I got called back by the MA around 9:25AM. Thankfully, K had a dentist appt that day earlier & was able to hang out with H during my visit. We got brought back into a room & after being weighed & doing vitals I took a quick trip to the bathroom to give my sample.
After I came back the MA asked a few questions (the usual & sometimes stupid ones) then left the room for a few. After she returned she told us that we would be changing to another exam room. =/ After switching rooms she let us know that my OB was pretty far behind already that day & that it may be a while. *sigh* At this point I wasn't *too* concerned since it was just then 9:40AM. At around 10:00AM a resident came in & asked if it was okay for her to get started with the visit while we waited on the doctor. I agreed & she asked a few more redudent & silly questions. Afterward, she had me lie down & she felt for my uterus. Then we got to listen to the baby's heartbeat on the doppler for the first time. C was literally in awe. =) He got to listen in when he brother was in utero too, but he's a lot more interested in this baby since he's older & is able to understand a bit better. The baby sounded good & the resident said the HR was right where they would like it to be around 12 weeks.
She left for a few minutes & finally (probably nearly an hour after my appt time) my OB came in. He talked to me a bit more & asked the same questions a 3rd time. Then asked whether or not he had mentioned an ultrasound last time or not. I told him that yes, he had said he was going to do another one & that was the only reason I had brought C to the appt. So although he was behind, he was kind of enough to bring the US machine in & preform a decently long ultrasound for us. He even got us some updated pictures. C was thrilled to his baby brother/sister again so it was definitely worth the long wait. I'm not sure we'll have another ultrasound until the anatomy scan (which is not scheduled yet), but we shall see.
