Weight: 21 pounds, 0.4 ounces (on June 03 at his late 18 month WWC) This hasn't changed much in a month & a half as he was 21 pounds, 6 ounces on our home scale today.
Length: 33 inches long (on June 03 at his late 18 month WCC)
Teeth: 6! We're working on it. Hopefully, 7 & 8 will be soon to follow.
Diaper: Size 4s. He's still doing the mid-rise, 2nd snap setting in our cloth.
Clothing: Literally all over the place. He currently has clothing that ranges from 6 months to 18 months sizing & everything in-between.--this is still very true. Maybe by winter he will officially be in 18 month stuff. We shall see...
Shoes: He's still wearing his size 4 Freshly Picked Moccs when we are out & about & when he rarely wears tennis shoes they are a size 5. At home, he still goes barefoot most of the time. He has one pair of sandals that are a size 5 & they should see him through the rest of the summer.
Milestones
05/26: Found out H is going to be a big brother =)
06/13: 5th tooth, bottom left lateral incisor.
06/19: 6th tooth, bottom right lateral incisor.
06/24: 7th & 8th tooth. First molars, right & left upper.
07/05: Last nursing session. =(
Nursing:
He's dropped down to one session daily before bedtime, but honestly he doesn't even really seem to NEED to nurse in order to go to bed. He's skipped a few nights here & there (never two in a row) with little consequence. I honestly don't know how much longer he's going to keep it up at this point since my supply seems pretty low. I'll keep going as long as he wants since he's so easy-going about it, but I honestly doubt he'll keep it up much longer.
The above was written previously. =( July 05 was the last time I even attempted to nurse him. He wasn't really interested anymore & would usually only latch on for a minute at a time--if that--so we just stopped cold turkey the next night & we've both been okay with it (me, physically--him, emotionally) up to this point. It's sad, but I knew my milk was drying up pretty fast & this is about how long his brother made it nursing when I was pregnant with him so I'm not overly surprised. I do miss it though & am happy that I will have another little one to nurse in about 29ish weeks. =) In the meantime, I'll try to enjoy having my body to myself for a few months.
Solids:
He's been back to his normal hungry, food-loving self this last month. Thank the lord because I really was not looking forward to having two super picky kiddos. He definitely has his daddy's palate & is all about trying new things lately. He loves salad & bell peppers, he is also a huge lover of seafood. His current favorite foods include fruit snacks, grapes & meat. He's getting a lot better with his spoon & fork and he uses utensils the majority of the time. He's still sitting in his booster at the table with us & eats out of the same plates & trays his brother uses. He still currently wears a bib for most meals & drinks out of some form of a sippy or straw cup. He has started practicing more with a regular cup & actually can drink from them just fine when he's thirsty. He does still tend to dump them out if he's not however & that may just be something that we have to work on with age. I'm not too worried about it since it was something his brother didn't learn until MUCH later & I know that H knows how to do it without problems.
Sleep:
It honestly has not been an amazing two weeks. He got sick again (thank you, Carter & preschool) so his sleep has pretty much crap. Lots of waking up ALL NIGHT LONG due to cough & congestion & having a dry throat. Most nights he has gone back down easily after some water & being tucked back in, but it definitely was painful for a week or so. Just in the last few nights has he finally started to back to his normal routine & sleeping through the night.
The above was also written previously. He's doing fairly well lately & when he wakes in the middle of the night is able to soothe himself back to sleep the majority of the time. He still goes down most nights by 7:30PM, but his bedtime ranges anywhere from 7-8:30PM depending on what is going on. Most days he is up around 8AM, but occasionally it is a bit earlier & if I'm lucky a bit later. He is still napping once daily & most days he has been going down around 1PM. Most days his nap is about 2 hours so he sleep from 1-3, but occasionally he will sleep longer & stretch it out to 3 hours. Always a nice bonus for me. =) He still uses his paci for sleep & ALL the other times in his life. =P He calls them "Pap-ee" & looks for them ALL the time if he doesn't have one in his mouth or hand. He's not satisfied at night unless he has at least two of them, but prefers to have 3 so that he has one in his mouth & then one for each hand so that he can switch them out as he likes & so that he can more or less always find on in the middle of the night. He also likes to sleep with multiple blankets & lovies. He is a snuggle baby, but only with his inanimate objects. He has also taken to going to bed with a sippy cup of water the last few weeks. I don't mind & will allow him to have one at both naps & bedtime. It's nice to have a drink in the middle of the night if you wake up thirsty & I think it actually helps him sleep better since a lot of the time he would wake up simply asking for water.
Health:
Definitely not a good two weeks here either. =( His brother brought home a pretty nasty cough &
major congestion that was accompanied by a fever. Unfortunately, little man had the worst of it come down on Mother's Day. It made for a very interesting out of town trip for us. I ended up taking him into the clinic on Tuesday to see if he had another ear infection, thankfully he does not.
The above was written previously, but thankfully since that incident we've been pretty healthy in this house (other then the MS for me). It could just be because his brother is finally out of school, but I'm also chalking it up to warmer weather & being outside more. Hopefully we can remain healthy through the rest of the summer. =)
Social:
He's definitely become even more of a little person this last couple months. It's funny when you suddenly realize that almost over night your baby is becoming more of a real toddler. He's talking more & developing a sense of humor, has his own interests/loves, and has become a lot more interested in playing/interacting with friends his age. It's fascinating to me how quickly these changes take place. He still thrives on predictability & isn't as much into spontaneity as his brother, but he is definitely getting more flexible with age. His favorite game of all time is still peek-a-boo & he loves being chased. He also likes to pretend he's sleeping & fake snore, it's pretty cute. He & his brother play nicely together a lot more & he readily gives affection to all of us including his little friends & our dog. He's definitely not talking as well as C was at this age, but he's doing fairly well. He knows a lot of individual words & can string together several 3-4 word sayings or sentences. His favorite is probably "yay! I did it!" He's babbling a TON more & often will come up to us & say "Mommy (or Daddy)" followed by a string of what sounds like nonsense to us. His comprehension is definitely improving & he can follow commands when asked with little hesitation or confusion on his part. He still gets very easily frustrated when things don't go his way & has quite the little temper. He tends to throw things when he's mad & fall to the ground to cry. Definitely has a flair for the dramatic. We always joke that with him the "terrible twos decided to start REALLY early. He still has his independent streak & loves to try new things & conquer things on his own. He's very proud of himself when he's able to do something on his own & is a lot more fearless then his big brother. He still tends to be shy around new people & is a bit hesitant of them at first, but warms up fairly quickly when he sees they are friendly. He still likes to smile & flirt with ladies at stores or in restaurants, but he doesn't want them to touch him. He is still majorly a momma's boy & even though he's not a huge snuggler he will cuddle with me on the couch on occasion while watching cartoons. He's finally starting to enjoy reading & will bring me books at least once almost every day for us to sit & read. His attention span is still fairly short when it comes to books, but we are working on it & him bringing me a book at all is MAJOR progress.
Physical:
He's definitely still my wild, adventurous child & loves all things physical: running, climbing, dancing, bouncing, swimming, throwing, kicking. Yep, he is pretty much constantly on the move while he's awake. He's getting really good at building with blocks & with lego duplos. He also enjoys playing with any kind of vehicle (including his brother's trains) & throwing or bouncing balls around the house. He's a lot more coordinated then his brother ever was & can is getting faster & stronger all the time. He loves to climb anything & everything and he can even get into his own chair at the table now with little difficulty. He also has no problem climbing bars or stairs at the park to get onto the playground equipment. He just recently started climbing up sets of stairs using the wall to hang on & will walk up steps with on foot on one step & one foot on the next while holding my hand. His favorite outside activities are still swinging & sliding, but he also really loves to swim & play in the sand/dirt/rocks. He has perfected driving his brother's Thomas powerwheel around outside & would probably figure out how to ride his bike too if he could reach the pedals. He's slowly becoming quite the little helper & will even put garbage in the garbage can for me now if asked.
Likes: Bath time, fruit snacks, climbing, being outside, Jack, Mommy, water, Tylenol, brushing his
Dislikes: Diaper changes (THIS x 10), being unable to do things by himself, having to wait for ANYTHING, being told no, not getting his way, having to go in the car.
