Carter: Week 12 & 13

A little late, but better late then never, right? Some of this was written previously. =)

OMG ya'll! My baby is only a few short days away from being 3 months old. Sunday will be a happy day all around as it is my birthday as well. Happy to get to share a special day with my little man. =)

Stats

At 12 weeks old Carter weighed in at 11lbs. 4.6oz & 24 inches long & at 1 day shy of 13 weeks he was at 12lbs even.Carter is getting more & more baby fat by the day! It's amazing to look at pictures from just a few weeks ago & see how fast he is changing & growing. I think we experienced our 3 month growth spurt & boy are we ALL glad that it's over with. Daddy unfortunately got the worst of it on Friday while Mommy was working a 12 hours shift. =(  I have been letting him nurse like crazy these last 3 days to try to make up for it supply wise. He is now in size 2 diapers officially & in 3-6 or 6 month clothing. =)

Milestones:

1st Holiday--Halloween obviously! We went to a Halloween party on Saturday night for a bit thrown by our friends who are expecting in February & it was a great time! Carter dressed up as a pumpkin & he was amazingly good. He was all smiles until he ate then he passed out for the night. On Saturday, Carter also got his first Halloween pumpkin. We didn't have time to carve them this year, but we do plan to make yummy pie out of it!! On actual Halloween day Carter dressed up as a little monster & passed out candy with momma.

1st Time Rolling From Tummy to Back--It was on November 05 in the morning. He did it COMPLETELY to escape doing tummy-time! You should have seen how proud of himself he was to be able to get out of having to be on his tummy. I was soo excited for him that I didn't even make him go back on his tummy. =)

In Other News:

Carter has been fully transitioned out of our room & into the nursery. He is now sleeping in his crib every night & is doing pretty well. During his growth spurt it was pretty bad...we were getting maybe an hour of sleep at at time. =( Thank goodness he is back to sleeping on his normal schedule again as of last night. Unfortunately, he still has not made a repeat performance of STTN. And to me it seems like it may still be a long time off. ::Sigh:: The bedtime set-up in the boy's room has become quite ridiculous actually. We now have the white noise machine, the humidifier, the night light & the Fisher's Price Seahorse. Although, if it works....I'll do whatever it takes! He also seems to go down better for the night when we lay him down drowsy, but awake. We are still using pacifiers, but not as often anymore. Since really discovering his hands, Carter has been doing a lot more self-soothing--which is great because he can never lose his hand in the middle of the night.

When it comes to naps, it is still hit & miss. This morning he went down with a little fight, but then slept for over an hour & a half. Other days he will do his usual 45 mins. tops. We're continuing to work on it, but it seems to be improving slowly, but surely.

We're not completely sure, but we think that Carter may have picked up a virus this week. Due to a hoarse sounding cry we decided to take him into the Pedi. All was well that she could surmise & he didn't have a fever so for now we are just keeping an eye on him. The humidifier does seem to be helping with his congestion and he sounded a little less hoarse today thankfully. =)

Eating is all over the place again too! He nurses like a champ & will stop himself when full. However, we still aren't sure what the correct amount for his bottle is. He will simply keep drinking until the bottle is drained regardless of how much food is inside. We have given anywhere from 3.5-5oz & he doesn't seem to care either way. I do think that MOST days the 5oz is too much for him. This week I am making his bottles in 4-4.5oz & we'll see how it goes with his schedule. Two days this week he has been reverse cycling. =( He will eat a ton in the evening & then ALL NIGHT LONG. During the day on Saturday, he went from 1PM-5:45PM without eating & then on Sunday he went from 11AM-3PM. Today he seems to be back to normal with the longest stretch being 3 hours. It is definitely trial & error so we will keep working on it. I guess as long as he gets enough oz in during the day that's what matters. Although, sleep would be REALLY nice for this momma. Just saying. =)

As far as the fun stuff goes...Carter now laughs every single day! I still can't get enough of his giggle & I believe that I have found his ticklish spots. One is right at his belly button & the other is on his left side. He will laugh every time I pretend to nom on him there. He is really getting into touching things now, especially people's faces & momma's hair. He has also started to make some new noises this week & I really do think he's going to be an early talker. I can't wait to see what his first words will be. I'm still holding out hope for "momma." Shhhhh don't tell the hubby. *wink*
