Week 2: Mommy Check-In

2 wk postpartum
So here we are at two weeks postpartum & I am actually finally starting to feel like my old self again. I still have a little bit of soreness going on, but nothing compared to this time last week. It gets better & better every day & I am hoping that I will be able to stop taking Advil every 6 hours here pretty soon. I do notice that the soreness increases slightly in the evenings & maybe it's just from overdoing it all day long. I am trying to rest as much as I will allow myself & hang out with my baby. The bleeding has more or less stopped for now, but I have no doubt that it will pick back up. My OB said that sometimes it will stop for some people for a short time, but will then start up again. I think I am just going to play it safe & continue to wear a panty liner for the time being.

As far as sleep goes, after 3 not so great nights with baby boy I finally fed him & went to bed at 9:30PM last night. Daddy stayed up with Carter who I guess ended up finally passing out around 10:15PM. We were VERY lucky last night & he did not wake up until 2AM. We were back asleep by 3AM & back up again at 5:30 until 6:30AM & then he didn't wake up again until almost 9AM. He slept in his PNP all night long & honestly all of us slept a lot better. I think depending on the night he may go back & forth between our bed & the PNP. =)

Breastfeeding is still continuing to go very well! I can definitely tell when it is time for him to eat & which side he ate on last. It's wonderful to be trucking along & getting into a nice groove with this. I don't really even mind being the only one who can feed him right now. I really enjoy breastfeeding at this point. We are however planning on getting a pump soon. I want to start pumping once daily to build up a freezer stash before I go back to work or just in case Mr. K & I want a dinner out & someone else needs to feed the baby before I go back to work at the end of October. The plan is still to continue EBF for at least the next 2 weeks.

Despite actually being able to eat real meals this week (thanks to my wonderful husband for keeping me fed!) I am down a total of 20 lbs thus far.My appetite still just isn't what it used to be. I find myself eating more frequently & much smaller meals. I guess this is what my body can handle right now. I can also fit back into my favorite pair of pre-pregnancy jeans. =) I still look like I have a little bit of belly, but I doubt that is going to fully go away until I can start working out again. Honestly, I am pretty antsy to get back into a routine. I can't wait to be able to take Carter out in the jogging stroller.
