Carter: Week 5

Happy Baby

I just love this face! Popeye. =)
Carter is 5 weeks old this week! I know I say this every week, but can we just slow down time a little bit already? I feel like I wake up & my kid gets bigger every day. =( Can't they just stay little forever?

This week has been a pretty good one for us. Carter is starting to get more into a routine & seems to be a lot happier since he has started drinking from the bottle. His weight on Saturday was just a little over 8lbs! =) I'm so happy that my baby is getting right back on track. =) The biggest milestone this week is that Carter has outgrown his newborn clothes. =( I just packed them all away yesterday. Also, I think we are going to have to make the move to size one diapers here within the next few days. The newborn size are getting a little tight around the legs. We haven't had too many blow-outs just yet, but one is definitely enough. =) Carter's system seems to be regulating quite well & we are no longer changing a poopy diaper after every single feeding which is nice.

Unfortunately, we have been dealing with a clogged tear duct this week. My poor baby's eye is all goopy. =( There isn't much we can do about it other then keep it clean & massage. Fortunately, I think it bothers mommy & daddy more then it does baby boy. Hopefully it will resolve itself on it's own soon. If not, we might have to resort to abx drops/ointment & I really don't want to have to do that. We'll see how it goes.

Carter is getting more & more alert & active by the day. I swear he does something every day that just makes us smile or melts our hearts. He is a very talkative little guy & is making more & more noises. He loves to talk to his animals & his favorite toy thus far is definitely his little blue elephant. He is also trying a lot harder to reach for things to grab them. He actually managed to get his hands on his bouncer mobile this morning & he looked so satisfied with himself afterwards. =) Also, his neck muscles are improving by leaps & bounds. He REALLY wants to be able to hold up his own head.
