Oh, Hair!

Ah pregnancy, & the joys it brings. For me, my hair has always been a source of pride while pregnant. It grows quickly & gets insanely thick. I ADORED my hair during my last pregnancy. It was healthy & held my natural curl very, very well.

Well, this time around the rapid growth & thickening are still happening, but this pregnancy hair brought along with it a bonus. EXTREME DRYNESS. I'm not over-exaggerating in the slightest.

Exhibit A:

What--? You ask. It looks fine, right? Well people, believe it or not---this is middle of the day 4th day hair. Yes, FOURTH day hair--as in I last washed my hair on Tuesday. And just to prove how dry it really is? I give you...

Exhibit B & C:

The fact that I didn't even require dry shampoo or baby powder this AM should definitely be a sign. I'm not complaining that my fourth day hair looks this good, but my first & second day hair were terrible this week! Talk about fly-aways & frizz galore. It bordered on unmanageable. =(

Last time around, I got my hair done professionally every 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately, I haven't even had my hair trimmed in the last 10 months.

*blush*

I didn't have the time before & now I just don't feel right spending the money it costs for a good cut & color. So, in an effort to combat the dryness without paying for an expensive salon trip I've been trying out some new products in sample sizes in hopes of finding a temporary solution.

Thus far, I have tried this product:

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

I bought it in the single travel size sample for $4. The 8.5oz jar of the stuff is pretty dang expensive, but they also have a 4oz size for about $15. You basically apply it to damp/wet hair after your normal shampoo/conditioner routine once-twice weekly combing it through & then let it set for at least 7 minutes before washing it out. It made my hair feel really soft & smell AH-mazing! It didn't seem to help much with the whole dryness/frizz thing, but it was only a one-time application. I am willing to give it a bit more of a chance & so I went ahead & bought the slightly larger 4oz tube. I'll keep ya posted on whether it's actually worth buying more or not.

My next trial product is this one:

Ojon Damage Repair Restorative Shampoo.

Again, a tad expensive in the large size, but again I bought it in the travel/sample size for $10. I only bought the shampoo thus far & plan to test it out for the first time tonight. We shall see how it works. And I'll keep ya posted.

I also bought some new brushes for $5 a piece in hope's of achieving a better, smoother blow-out (round brush) & a paddle brush for detangling. Let's hope my efforts are not all for not. I know I need to get a trim eventually(preferably before Holden arrives), but I'd like to hold off until right before he comes if possible because who knows when I will be able to have the time OR money for another cut then.
