Month 4: Must-haves

Here is our must-have baby gear for month 4 & not even all that late, mind you. =) In no particular order:

1.) A Lovey. I'm sure any lovey would work really, but for us it's this one. Carter had a similar lovey (still has it), but never really formed an attachment to it. I got this for H while he was still in utero & he actually really loves snuggling with it. We attach his paci clip to it & take it pretty much everywhere with us. He also sleeps near it the majority of nap times. For us, this lovey has been wonderful...it's soft all over, makes a rattling sound when shook & H likes the look of it's face. He smiles every time he sees it.

2.) An Exersaucer. We actually got our exersaucer as a hand-me-down from one of my old co-workers before C was born & I'm unsure of the exact brand/model, but it looks most similar to the one
pictured. It has a farm theme & H loves everything about it. I attached the mirror from his playmat to it as well & he will stare at himself & smile for a good 10-15 mins. He loves that it bounces & that he can stand by himself in it (which is one of his favorite things currently). Plus, I love that it's a safe place to set him down for a few minutes where I know he won't make a fuss.

3.) Indestructible's Books. We love these! H has gotten really into grabbing & crinkling & tearing this last month so these are perfect! I wish we had gotten these when C was little because it's really hard to keep a curious baby from destroying a book. H has literally stuck these suckers in his mouth & chewed on the pages with no damage done. We have both the Baby Faces book & Baby Babble book, but there are quite a few to choose from depending on your taste. They are also quite often found for a deal on Babysteals.com & who can argue with a great price?! Certainly not I! I actually plan to collect a few more of these since H enjoys them so much. Maybe a possible edition to the Easter basket this year? Me thinks so. =)

4.) Bibs. Oi! DEFINITELY. H has definitely not been as much of a spitter as C was, but since he started teething he has been a drooling, dripping machine. If it weren't for bibs this poor kiddo would soak through every shirt he owns within minutes & then run the risk of having a rashy or chaffed neck/chest. Once again, any bib will do just fine, but we love these. The Skip Hop Zoo bibs are ADORABLE, lightweight & they wash & store extremely well. They don't have a backing on them so they aren't super thick & they are large so they can cover a lot of real-estate. I can't wait to use them when H starts solids & see how they hold up then.

5.) Teething toys & 6.) Baltic Amber necklace. I'm lumping these two together since they basically go hand in hand. For us, teething has been A LOT worse this go-round then it ever was with C. H has had a really hard time with the pain thus far & still hasn't sprouted a tooth yet. It's definitely going to a long road so we are going to need all of the tools in our arsenal to combat this war. Yes, I said war. =) Our favorite teething toys of the moment (other then Sophie, who we still obviously love) are these RaZbaby teethers & this Chewbeads Jane necklace. The teether is silicone & basically acts as a hands-free teether since it's almost like a pacifier. It's still a little bit big for C's mouth, but he has no problem keeping a hold of it & maneuvering it around & into his mouth. It's also soft just like a pacifier & it is pretty darn cute to boot! The Jane necklace was for me since H likes to grab my hair & clothing & hands in an attempt to try to nom on them. Now he can grab the beads & chew them instead since they are actually intended for this purpose. He actually loves holding the necklace & chewing on it more then he likes me wearing it, which is also fine. The beads are safety-knotted between each bead & made with a break-away clasp. They are also silicone, BPA free & dishwasher safe! The Baltic Amber necklace is a TOTAL live-saver. It can't even explain the week from HELL that we had while H wasn't wearing one. I know a lot of people are skeptical of the whole teething necklace craze (I definitely was too), but I am a firm believer now in the power of baltic amber. We got our necklace & anklet from Inspired by Finn, but there are many different makers of these gems. We love this brand due to the high-quality of the product, the variety in the necklace & the fast packaging/shipping.
