Carter: 2.75 Years Old

 Stats:

Weight: 30 pounds (on our home scale, in his diaper only)

Length: 37.25 inches (just a tad shy of 37.5 inches)

Diapers: I can't believe I still have to fill in this category! Size 5 in disposables, Huggies Little Movers. Highest rise, third snap setting in our cloth, they seriously BARELY fit him though. =(

Clothing: He has outgrown all of his 24 month sized clothing & some of his 2T stuff, but is mostly in 2T stuff still. He is slowly transitioning into 3T sized stuff (pants mostly). I'm hoping some of his 2T shorts & summer things/pjs will still fit him again this year, but we shall see.

Shoes: Size 8.

Milestones:

03/08: First night sleeping in his big boy bed! He was a little bit apprehensive, but he stayed in his bed & fell asleep with little incident. By the third night in his bed he was a pro! He fell out of his bed the first few nights, but has since gotten used to being in a bed without rails.

03/2014: First time on a merry-go-round at the park. He loves it! It spins & he can ride on it, enough said.

03/2014: First time going poop in his potty. It was kind of by default since he was ill, but it still counts for something since he did it without hesitation.

03/27: First time trying celery. Weird, I know! lol He mostly just licked peanut butter off of it, but he did take a few bites that included actual celery. We are trying to branch him out a bit since he's so darn picky still.

03/30: First time meeting his baby cousin, Alexander.

04/07: Started sitting in a booster seat at the table instead of in his high chair.

04/18: First time dyeing eggs. Eh...did not go well. We will try again next year.

04/19: First Easter Egg Hunt. He did awesome! I am so proud that he understood the concept & that he actually wanted to participate & was calm about it. He had so much fun. I can't wait to do it again next year. =)

04/20: First Easter with brother! =)

Sleep:

Ah....well. It's been going okay lately. He still STTN (obviously), but going down at 7/7:30PM has somehow resulted in being SUPER grumpy during the day around 3PM & waking up at 6:30AM. Ick! So depending on how he's doing during the day, he will occasionally take a late afternoon nap & go to bed a little bit later (8/8:30PM) which often results in him sleeping a bit later (which doesn't bother me at all). He's been sleeping in his big boy bed for almost 2 months now & it's going very well. He doesn't get out of bed after he goes down for the night/in the middle of the night, but he will get up & come in our room in the AM after playing in his room for a little while. I usually hear him when he wakes up so I know when to expect him.

Eating Habits:

Not much has changed, but he has gotten a little bit better. I will definitely take every little win I can in this area. If it were up to him he would survive off of bread, peanut butter, chicken nuggets, crackers/other snacks, & sweets. Yep! We've really been working on getting him to eat some more protein & veggies lately & it seems like we are slowly, slowly gaining some headway with him. I know he will get there eventually, but it can definitely still be frustrating for everyone at times when he refuses to eat the majority of his dinner every night. He still only drinks white milk & water thus far & we haven't tried to really introduce anything else at this point. He has never really cared for juice & I don't think he really needs it anyway. He honestly STILL hates eating with utensils & only uses them about 25 or so percent of the time. And he STILL can't drink from a cup. God, we really are terrible parents, aren't we? He really enjoys sitting in his booster seat & likes that he can get in & out of it on his own. We've also started to teach him how to wash his own hands after meals & he does pretty well with that without making a giant mess.

Activity/Play/Learning:

He is just awesome & has become such the mommy's little helper! We have been teaching him a bit more independence this last few months & he is currently learning how to dress/undress himself as well as put on his own shoes. His jobs include putting clothing into the laundry baskets (his own, his brothers, ect),  picking up his toys/brother's toys, throwing things into the trash or diapers into the diaper pail when asked, & helping mommy load/unload laundry from the washer/dryer. He also will get things for me or put things away when asked now. He recognizes all of his upper/lower case letters & loves to spell out words that he sees everywhere. He is currently working on tracing patterns, shapes & letters as well as learning how to wield a pencil. He's also recognizing more numbers & is learning how to actually count items. He is getting a lot better about listening & following directions, but still has his moments of overwhelming frustration. He's not having quite as many tantrums as previously, but definitely still does have his moments once or twice daily. We're working on patience & asking for help before freaking out. He's really gotten into climbing a lot more this last month or so & the playground has become A LOT more fun since this happening. He loves playing outside & asks to go to the park pretty much every.single.day. I oblige him as much as possible & as much as weather allows. We've been working on him getting himself into his own car seat as well as buckling his own safety harness. Thus far he can get into his seat & get his arms into the straps which helps me a ton!
