Turkey Day 2014

This year Thanksgiving was yet another milestone holiday for our little family. We didn't head home for the holiday this year (as we didn't want to make the 6+ hour drive) & we didn't end up going to Alabama either (as originally planned), that meant that we ended up spending our day with just our little family unit.

The boys were up around 8AM & we made breakfast while watching the parade. The boys played most of the morning & relaxed around the house while K & I prepared our meal. We made turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, gravy, stuffing & rolls. We ate around 2pm & then the boys headed down for a nap (after H had a quick bath). As predicted, C ate almost nothing & H ate EVERYTHING. =)

While the boys napped K & I cleaned up, watched some football & got ready for our evening plans with friends. Just before 5PM & after taking a couple of family photos we packed up & headed down the road to our friend's house for dessert. There were SOOO many desserts & only 5 adults. The kids mostly ate cookies (that I had made) so that left 5 pies, frozen fruit salad & cheesecake to the rest of us. We pretty much didn't even make a dent in the desserts. The guys enjoyed their evening watching MORE football while my friend & I mostly hung out with the kids & chatted. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with them & to come together for the holiday since neither of us could be with our families.

I'm not sure what we will end up doing next year, but I'm kind of glad we got to have this experience at least once & were able to be a little more independent & relaxed then in previous years.
