12/10 First Ultrasound

I had called my Gyn immediately following my BFP to schedule my first appt. to see her. My gyn doesn't usually see people until at least 10wks so the soonest she could see me was Jan. 03, 2011. I begged to have Betas drawn & my Gyn obliged. When they called with the results my numbers were nice & high at 9698.1. They also offered me an early US to check viability as well as to date the pregnancy. I anxiously agreed & scheduled my US appt for the following Friday.

I was SUPER nervous that something was going to be wrong with baby. I had to drink 32oz of water prior to my appt & it literally made me want to vomit. I had to eat saltine crackers the whole way to my appt. Unfortunately, Mr. K again had to work mandatory OT so I had to go it alone. I was super nervous while I was waiting for the tech to call me back. I was texting Mr. K non-stop! When I finally got called back I thought I was going to explode from holding it for so long. The tech was really nice & she performed the transabdominal portion of the US first. She measured everything & explained everything that she was doing while she was doing it. She really helped to put me at ease. I got to see my little bean & it was measuring at exactly 6wks. Afterwards, I was able to use the restroom & then we did the transvaginal US. It was pretty uncomfortable, but worth it to get a better pic of LO. I also got to see LO's beautiful little flickering HB with a HR of 120. I almost cried from relief & love of seeing my LO for the first time. It made it all that much more real.
