Stats:
Weight: 20lbs 11.8oz
Length: 29.5 inches
Clothing: (9)-12 months & 6-12 month clothes. He's still growing into most of this stuff & will probably be in 12 month size for quite a bit longer. Shoes are size 3-4, one pair of size 5 slip-ons that he'll grow into.
Diapers: Size 4
Milestones:
07/27--1st time having ice cream & enjoying it! He'd tried ice cream once before on our trip to Sun River & was not a fan. At the beach this past weekend he would have devoured mine whole if I'd let him. It was too funny. Guess that throws my "too cold" theory out the window.
07/27--First time saying "teddy" as in teddy bear. =) I swear his vocabulary grows daily.
07/29--First haircut- He did great! No crying, no fussing & no trying to grab the scissors. We took him to Lil Snippers & they are great with kids. He got to watch an Elmo movie during the cut (which took about 5 mins.) & then he got a little toy at the end. Momma also got to keep some snippets of his hair & he got a first haircut certificate. =)
07/30--1 year & cake smash pictures. So much fun! We went to JCP again. And of course, my kid did not disappoint when it came to his 1 year posed pics. Smiles galore! The cake smash was another story. Oi! He did not want to make a mess & was not too thrilled with Momma & Mimi getting cake on his hands & face.
07/30--Fed yourself with a spoon for the first time from your yogurt cup. Good job big boy!!
07/31--Started saying Yes & Kiss consistently. =) Such a little smartie you are.
08/03--First time having a meal of his own at a restaurant. Some of you may think we are silly for ordering a 1 year old his own meal, but he actually ate like a 1/3 of it & then another 3rd of it for lunch the next day. It was worth it to be able to order & eat my own food that I REALLY wanted for once. =)
08/03--First time using crayons. Just wanted to eat them at this point & then throw them because they don't taste good....that's surprising, right? lol
08/05--We celebrated C's 1st birthday with all of our friends & family. It was hectic, but a great party. The little man had a ton of fun. (I'll make a separate post about this later.)
In Other News:
Nursing: I have to start with this one because I am so unbelievably proud of us. It wasn't always an easy road, but we did it! We have made it one full year of nursing with no plans to stop anytime soon. I would still claim that this is my greatest accomplishment thus far as a mother. C is still nursing on demand while I am home, sometimes it's 3 times a day & other times it's 5 or 6. It's completely up to him at this point & it works for us. I've made & surpassed every breastfeeding goal I've set & don't plan on setting another one. We'll wean when C is ready.
Food: C has gotten a little bit more picky lately & only wants to feed himself. If it's something on a spoon or fork he will usually bat it away initially & sometimes will refuse it altogether. His favorite foods of the moment include fish crackers, puffs (all kinds), organic fruit/veggie combo pouches, ham, olives (of all things..?) & corn. He will also never refuse bread. Definitely a little carb lover. We've started letting him practice with his own fork & spoon & he is slowly picking that up. This week we will be starting some 100% WCM bottles while he is with my parents/the ILs. I am going to continue pumping just twice at work with the intention of getting it down to hopefully 1 time in the next few months. So far it doesn't seem to have affected our nursing sessions at home.
Sleep: We had a few rough nights last week. I thought C was teething again & maybe it was partially that (all the usual signs were there), but now I am wondering if he had a cold (since I seem to have picked one up shortly there after. Thankfully, we are both feeling better now. Otherwise, sleep has been pretty good. He can go to sleep drowsy with me putting him down & not have a problem. He doesn't do as well for his daddy, unfortunately. Bedtimes range a lot lately due to our crazy schedule this last month+. I am happy to say that things will finally be getting back to a semblance of normal here in the next few days. He has definitely tried to revert back to a snuggler & nurse himself back to sleep the last few days. I'm cool with it though, he's 1 now. I have to suck up the rest of these special moments while I still can. He won't always want to snuggle with his Momma. He's still taking 1-2 naps daily usually 2-3 hours total on average & sleeping 12+ hours at night. Yay!
Play: Still a water baby to his core. His favorite activities still all revolve around water. Bath time, swimming & his water table are all on the top of his list. He still loves all things that spin, especially his pin wheels. He doesn't really have any favorite toys at the moment other then the above since we are in the process of switching out his toys right now. Although, he has definitely gotten into books a lot more lately & this momma is happy that we got a ton for his birthday. His current favorite book is The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
