This is the latest one we've tried. I actually made both a dry version & a water version. I seriously love how they turned out! I used crafting materials I had left over from C's party & various other past projects so the cost was non-existent. I didn't have any baby oil for the water one so I just used vegetable oil & it worked just as well.
I didn't fill the dry one up all the way because I wanted it to make noise when C shook it. He loves to shake things to see if they make noise & this will be perfect! I hot glued the tops on both bottles & then taped up the wet one as well. This is a first attempt, but hopefully they won't come off!

I wanted it to be fun to look at & to shake since his attention span is pretty short just yet.
In the water one, I put water, oil, food coloring (blue & green), glitter, star stickers, some foam letters, craft puff balls & some paper shapes.
I was mistaken in thinking that C would prefer the water one. My kid looked at it for like 2.5 seconds & then threw it down. The shaker one proved to provide endless entertainment. He carried it around with him everywhere for a good 30 mins. That my friends is what we call a win. I was able to start dinner & put the dishes away without him hanging off my leg. Score!!
I think next we will be trying the homemade finger paints. That should be a ton of fun!!
I love it! I may repin this to do it. So far I've just done a few crafty things for me but as it gets colder these ideas are going to come in handy for busy toddlers!
