Tuesday's Pinned It, Then did it.

I did a few things this last few days actually!

The first one I want to share though, was the button pumpkin decorating.

I am not a huge fan of pumpkin carving so I was looking for a different idea for this year. I came across a picture of a VERY similar pumpkin on Pinterest & loved it!! Once again, I was unlucky & the pin led to a dead end. =( I did some research with the fantastic Google & was able to find basic instructions.

For this project, I just needed: A pumpkin, a pencil, black buttons (in a variety of sizes), wire ribbon (again I used black), stencils (or printed letters) & a glue gun.

The total cost of this project was about $5.00. $2 for the bag of buttons (I bought two as you see in the photo, but used less then 1) & $3 for the ribbon. The pumpkin was free with our trip to the patch on Saturday & I already had the pencil, hot glue gun & stencils.

The first thing I did was laid down some newspaper, cleaned/dried my pumpkin & collected my supplies.

My pumpkin did not have much of a stem (since K accidentally broke it off) so I had to tie the ribbon around what was left of my stem & hot glue it into place.

I then totally winged the stenciling part. Fortunately, the stencils I already had were the PERFECT size for my pumpkin. I held up my stencil on top of my pumpkin & used a pencil to trace the letters onto the pumpkin's face. It did make a slight indent, which actually helped a lot.

I then used my hot glue gun to attach the buttons to the stenciled pattern of the letters. The instructions I found said to apply glue to the button & then attach it, but I honestly found it a lot easier to apply glue to the pumpkin & then attach the button to it.

I did apply buttons on top of other buttons in some spots to fill in holes & I think it worked out wonderfully. I used regular white hot glue sticks & had no trouble getting them to stick. I was able, however to pull mis-placed buttons off when dry & re-attach them again.

I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. Total time for this project was probably 45 mins.
I 100% forgot to take step by step pictures for this project & they turned out..okay. I may try some different things with my next set of pendents, but if you want to try it out for yourself here is the tutorial.
