I completely forgot to mention that I bought my first NEW baby related item this last week. And surprisingly, it was not clothes! I haven't been able to find anything gender neutral that I absolutely adore (clothing-wise) so I refuse to buy anything new until we find out the gender.
One item that I always wished I had gotten with C was the Fisher Price Rock & Play sleeper. C slept in our room for about the first 7 months of his life give or take & it would have been a lot easier having the Rock 'n Play. We used a Pack 'n Play some of the time, but C just ended up in our bed for the majority. It will be nice to have a different option for this baby. Also, if this little one has as many issues with gas & spitting up as C did the angled sleeping with be very helpful. Plus, this will fit on my side of the bed instead of having the Pack 'n Play be half-way across the room which will make nighttime feedings a lot more convienient for this momma. Since I can not find a picture online of the exact one I purchased I will take a picture later & add it to this post. =)
So, remember how I was worried about sharing the news of LP with my best friend? Yeah, it went alright. I was looking for the perfect moment all night to break the news, but decided that there wasn't really going to be a perfect moment. I let her know in the car on the way home from dinner. She took the news about as well as could be expected, considering. Fortunately, she didn't all out cry. Regardless, I'm glad that she finally knows.
Besides that, we've been busy, busy, busy! Preparing for our potential move, my parent's potential move & my grandparent's potential move. Oi! It's been a lot of house stuff recently. I'm happy with the prospect of moving closer in & being more near to my family, but the whole process truly is going to be daunting. Our house needs A LOT of work before we can successfully sell it & unless we find an incredibly priced move-in ready house our new place may end up being a fixer-upper! I am not looking forward to all of this while either incredibly pregnant or with a newborn, but what must be done, must be done.
The rest is a bit complicated & I am fortunate not to be either my parents or my grandparents right now. My grandparents recently (think since last Sunday) have decided that they want to downsize...drastically & are considering a big move about an hour+ drive from where I live now. =( It's upsetting because it means that I won't see them nearly as often as I do now (traffic to & from this area is HORRENDOUS) & the new baby won't have as much interaction with them as Carter has. My mom is also incredibly sad that her parents will no longer be a quick 10 min drive for her either, but my grandmother is convinced that this is what is best for them. We went to check out the potential new place yesterday & it's so small I'm not sure how they'll adjust, but my grandmother has her mind made up. Since my grandparents plan to sell their current home (the house my mom grew up in here) in due time my parents are actually going to buy from them (also decided just yesterday--Wow!) as my parents are currently living in a tiny two bedroom with far too many people! Again, long story there. This is all going to be quite the transition for everybody. I can't imagine dealing with three moves this year, but it's what we are looking at right now. I'm seriously making a list in my head of how much we need to do & am getting overwhelmed. Oi! Guess I better put thoughts to paper soon so we can get on that "Honey-Do" list. =)
We used a rock n play and loved it!! There was a bit of a transition when we wanted little guy to sleep flat in his crib.....but we made it :))
