We arrived at my appt about 10 mins early & waited & waited & waited & waited. Uh....seriously? At about 3:10PM the receptionist decided to share that they were having trouble with the ultrasound machine. Thanks for the update, 40 mins after my appt. We sat in the waiting room with a very impatient toddler until 3:30PM. It was not a good way to start us off. =( In hindsight, I wish I would have left C with a sitter, but I wanted him to be included on this important day & how was I to know we would end up waiting over an hour before my scan even began? Sigh....
The assistant who roomed me didn't even bother to weigh me, but instead just ushered us back to the ultrasound room. We waited about 5 mins for the tech to come in & fortunately she started right away. Unfortunately, the lady wasn't very personable. =( She asked if we wanted to find out the gender & of course we told her yes. She said that she was going to work her way top to bottom.....seriously? So after waiting an hour in the waiting room & then a million pictures of the baby's head & my ovaries & the placenta & the baby's kidneys, she finally just blurted out "It's a boy." Uh....thanks for the build-up. The only thing I was grateful for is that Holden gave us plenty of good pictures of himself. Way to go buddy & make your Momma feel like the appt was worth a damn. =) We got a perfect gender shot (yeah, DEFINITELY a boy), 3 beautiful profiles, a shot of his perfect little hand waving & his long legs & tiny toes. His heartrate was also right around 146 so back in the same range that C's was at that time. Afterward the new MFM doctor came in to do a little more looking. Although she was a bit more personable then the tech she didn't talk at ALL. She also didn't offer us any more printed pictures. She did however let us know that baby boy looked perfect & that we wouldn't need to return for another scan, so yay to a healthy growing boy!!
We didn't get out of the appt until almost 5 thanks to late start & I wanted to make a quick stop by Kohl's to pick up a "little brother" onesie for Holden. I ran in, grabbed that & then we headed to my parents for a whole 20 mins. My brother was home for a few days & so it was nice to get to visit for a minute. Fortunately, C & I will get to see him again in about a week when we head down to SunRiver. We broke the news to my parents (who were not all that surprised) & then headed home for dinner. At that point we just decided to call the ILs since it was getting so late so unfortunately, no big reveal there.
I did take a picture of the onesie (see Wordless post) & post it on FB for our friends. Everyone was very excited so that was fun!! Unfortunately for me & fortunately for our wallets, it means little to no shopping for this momma! lol We pretty much have all of the boy stuff we need so little mister Holden will be all set when he arrives.
I also finally broke the news to everyone at work today. Fortunately, no conversation took place about whether I will continue to work or not after the boy is born. It's a question I can't really answer just yet, but my guess is probably not. And quitting is not exactly a conversation I am ready for in May.
But seriously....when do the stores change over to winter clothes already?! lol Yes, I need to stop thinking about shopping...
