Carter: 21 Months

Stats:

Weight: 25 lbs, 6 oz.

Length: 33.25 inches

Clothing: Mostly in sized 18-24 month clothing, as it fits best. Still able to fit into some 18 month stuff & can fit into a very few 2T items.

Shoes: Wearing 5s in some sizes & 6s in others. His Stride Rites & sandals are both sized 6. Again, it seems to depend on the brand of shoe because he has other sized 6 shoes that are huge still!

Diapers: Size 4 in disposables & the third snap, highest rise in cloth.

Milestones:

This section really isn't as cut & dry anymore so I think I'm going to change it up a bit. A lot things don't really have exact dates, but are more general milestones gained over the month. I'll do the ones that have definitive dates first & then talk about general milestones after that...

04/07: First time ever throwing up! =( I'm glad we made it as far as we did without a GI illness & fortunately he only vomited twice total. He was back to his old self within 48 hours.

04/28: Our nursing days officially came to an end. =( This is the last night that C even attempted to nurse. Due to the pregnancy & being ill my milk supply plummeted too low to be worth it in C's opinion. I still can't believe we're done.

This month, C has been a sponge! Not that it doesn't seem like he's been a sponge for a while, but sometimes he even surprises me how easily he picks things up. He has started saying "excuse me" & "I'm sorry" with regularity. He was already saying please & thank you regularly. Who taught this kid to be so polite? Am I sure that he is actually my child!? And seriously, his "I sorry" is literally the cutest thing I have ever heard.

He has also started to learn the ABC song. He has A,B,C, D memorized in the song, but he does know that E comes after D. My kid is definitely going to be a brain & not a jock. He is now able to recognize half of the letters in the alphabet along with several colors, numbers & shapes.

In Other News:

Nursing: I can't believe this is the last time I will include this section in a Carter update! I think I'm more upset about the fact that we're done then he is. We made it over 20.5 months & I would not trade a second of our experience for anything in the world.

Food/Milk: It's been super hit or miss with C this month. He's been eating less, being picky & refusing to try new things again so basically back to my typical toddler. He's back to eating like a pig one day & then practically starving himself the next. I am sure every parent goes through this at some point, but man is it worry inducing. I won't be sad when this stage of toddlerhood comes to an end. I am happy to say that when it comes to milk though that C is not picky. The kid loves his milk now & will drink pretty much any kind given to him. It's one nice change anyway since we can buy whole milk for him instead of the Soy milk we were buying. C is currently learning to drink from a water bottle & we will work more on cup usage this month. Also, although he prefers to still use his fingers to eat he is very good with both a fork & a spoon.

Sleep: This is one area that seems to be consistent! Thank goodness. =) C still is sleeping 10-11 hours through the night. He usually goes to bed between 8-9PM (depending on what's going on that night/day) and wakes up between 7:30-8AM. He is still napping one time daily in the early afternoon for anywhere between 2-3.5 hours this month. Wow! Seriously, who took my toddler & traded him for a teenager. I often have to wake him up because it's getting too late to still be sleeping. It's craziness.

Play:

His running & climbing skills are improving all the time, especially with all the extra outside play time lately. C's favorite activities of the moment still include pretending to talk on the phone, pretending to lock & unlock doors with our keys, playing with the vacuum cleaner or Swiffer & attempting or pretending to buckle, zip or plug things in.

He loves to sing, dance & sit quietly reading his books. He also loves when we read books to him a lot more again. He will bring me book after book, plop down in my lap & say "Mommy read!" He loves to crack himself up & then say "I funny". He also says "I cute" quiet often as well, big ego anyone? lol

Water & playing outside are huge right now for him since the weather has been so nice lately. C loves to "swim", swing & slide.

Favorites:

Foods: Melon, Bagels with cream cheese, & Granola bars. He is also a big fan of ice cream when we let him actually have it.

Character/TV Show: Thomas the train is his hands down favorite, but he is also quiet fond of Super Why on the Sprout channel.

Drink: Milk or Water, either will do!

Inside activity: Pretending to lock the door with our keys or playing with the vacuum cord

Outside activity: Swinging

Person: Mommy or Mimi

Song: Thomas the train theme song or Lullaby
