Evening Out

Ready for a night out!
We had our belated anniversary outing on Saturday. We've only been out a handful of times in the last year & a half so I definitely consider it a treat when the opportunity arises.

K had to work during the day on Saturday so C & I just hung out together all day & went out for a bit of shopping. C napped late & I rwas able to shower & get ready prior to K arriving home. We left the house just after 6pm to head to my parent's place. We dropped C off around 6:30PM & headed out. We had originally planned to head to the mall's newer theater to see a movie & have dinner, but we were afraid that we may be out to late seeing a 3 hour movie that didn't start till 8PM. We couldn't figure out a better plan though & so headed to the mall.

Upon getting to the ticket counter (just before 7PM) we discovered that the movie we had originally wanted to see was already sold out. I considered this possibility before we arrived (as the new theater is VERY popular), but figured we were there almost an hour early so we should be good. I guess not. =( We had wanted to splurge & see a movie in a "movie parlor" which doesn't really have a lot of seats. There were only a few options that were not sold out at that point so we opted to see This is 40 at 9:30PM instead. So much for not being out super late. =)

After buying our tickets (thank you military discount!), we headed upstairs to have dinner in the theater restaurant. We only had to wait about 15 mins for a table so that wasn't bad. We shared the beer fondue appetizer (it was okay), K got fish & chips & I got some pasta with chicken, sundried tomatoes, garlic, shallots & pesto. The atmosphere & service were excellent, but the food was mediocre at best. Slightly disappointing, but at least we know now.

Waiting for the movie to start
After dinner we walked around the shops & then headed in to hang out in the theater's lounge for a bit. They seated our movie around 9:10PM & let me just say that the movie parlor was AH-MAZING!! There are only about 26 seats in the whole theater (hence why they sell out fast) & they are made up of mostly comfy couches, loveseats, recliner chairs & 3 bed-like seats up in front. We were going to sit up front, but it was too close to the screen so ended up sitting in the back on a loveseat instead. It was the most comfortable I have ever been at a movie short of my own living room.

At this particular theater, they have a wait staff & take orders for food/drinks before the movie. Since we had just eaten dinner we didn't get any food in the theater, but a lot of other people did. They stop serving about 10 mins before the movie starts as not to disturb people. And the best part of the movie, it started RIGHT on time with zero previews!

The movie itself was hilarious! I would definitely recommend it for a date night. I love Paul Rudd though. The hubby definitely agreed the that movie was a winner & I'm glad we got to see it instead of what we had originally planned to see. I think we enjoyed this movie more then we would have liked the other one. The movie ended just before midnight & so we headed to pick-up C. My mom called just as we got into the car to ask when we were coming (sigh...responsibilities! lol). Fortunately, the theater is only 5 mins from my parent's house.

We scooped C up (he stayed asleep in the car) & then nursed him when we got home around 12:30AM. I think K & I finally went to sleep around 01:30AM. Overall, it was a great night! We got to talk about things other then the small boy & focus on ourselves & each other for a change. I missed C a little bit, but I knew he was in good hands so definitely did not dwell on it. It was definitely a great belated celebration & I'm so happy we got to do it. =)
