Run, Forest, Run

The completely unbelievable occurred today.

I was able to run 2.5 miles while the child was awake. Nope, it was not outside with him packed into a stroller. Nope, he was not in a baby jail. He legit left me alone on the treadmill for a whole 35 mins. I would have gone longer, but I didn't want to push my luck. How did I manage this monstrous feat, you ask? Well, I will thank K for this one. He drove the carpool today which apparently meant taking the carseat out of his car.

How was I to know that the carseat OUT OF THE CAR is the most fun, exciting toy EVER?! Seriously, I don't think C has ever been more entranced with something in his life. He played with that stupid chair longer then he's ever played with anything (including our cell phones). I'm pretty sure my kid thinks that having his own sized chair in the house is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I'd avoided the idea of a PBK Anywhere chair despite the popularity of it among the ladies in my mommy group (mostly due to the expense) because I figured C would play with it for two seconds & then that would be it. Then it would just sit around the house taking up space. I may have to rethink this one though since obviously leaving the carseat in the house forever isn't plausible. Well, Christmas is coming afterall....

And along that same note. I now have a train table in my living room instead of a coffee-table. Wow, what has my life become!? Granted, that coffee table is evil, ancient & busted, but still. Sigh...the things we do for the love of our children.

Now back to running...

Today was the third run I've gotten in this week. =) And I've come to realize something. I love it! I love running, but I could not be a competitive runner. I don't run for speed. I just can't. I run to relax myself & feel that adrenaline rush & to improve my mood. For me, running is a hobby (okay, it helps that it's great exercise too!!). It will never be my sport. And now that I've realized this, I can continue running the way that I enjoy to. And some people may say that this means that I am not a REAL runner, but you know what? I don't care. Running is not only about competition, but about fun too. I know that some runners find competition fun & exciting, but I'm not one of them & that's okay. If I can get at least 4 runs in a week with my work schedule I will be a much happier camper. Hoping to make tomorrow day #4 this week. =)
