Tuesday's Pinned It, Then Did It

This weekend was spend doing a lot of cleaning, a lot of organizing & a lot of rearranging/storing/donating along with a little added baby proofing for good measure. We finally put up the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs (because every time I turned around C was heading on up), put child-locks on the cabinets, & we're putting the door back on the pantry. I cleaned out our master bedroom closet, the coat closet & our bedside table drawers. We took a car load more stuff to the storage unit (still more to go) & donated a bag-load to Salvation Army. It's been a busy, but productive few days.

I did test out a couple of pins this week to the tune of the cleaning/organizing bit & both of them actually worked out really well. The first one, & this is going to sound totally gross, is a shower cleaner. I am definitely NOT a domestic goddess & I loathe cleaning so this may be a well known fact, but it wasn't to me so bear with me here. When we moved into our house to say that it was not cleaned before hand would be the understatement of the century. It was a foreclosure & although beautiful, it was VERY VERY filthy. I spent days in this house before we moved in just cleaning. We've been here for 4.5 years now & the master bath has pretty much been the bane of my existence. I have tried everything I could think of to get that sucker clean to no avail. We have TERRIBLE hard water here among other things. Let's just say, we definitely do not drink the stuff. Well, I found a pin that said to mix Dawn dishwashing soap with white vinegar in equal parts in a dish washing scrub sponge. I was pretty skeptical at first because this stuff would not come off with anything in the past, but I'll be damned if it didn't work!! It still doesn't look perfect, but it looks a lot better. All I did was wet the shower, scrub, scrub, scrub with my little wand, let it sit for a few hours & rinsed it. HUGE improvement! I will definitely be keeping that scrubber in the shower from now on.

The other pin I tried out was this. Seriously, such a simple & space-saving idea! I have gotten into scarves as an accessory recently & have acquired quite a few. I also have some long necklaces that just do not fit in my jewelry box so this was the perfect solution! Cheap & easy, plus it looks great also. I got the over-the-door towel rack at Target, the shower hooks from Target & I picked up some S shower hooks from Walmart. The whole project probably cost me $20, maybe & opened up so much more space in our closet. I can't be mad about that. =)

All & all it was a successful Pin-testing week!
