I've been thinking a lot lately about my blog.
Recently, a fellow mommy blogger & Summer 2011 momma wrote about making a blog book out of her blog. It sounded like something that was right up my ally & the perfect way to turn my words into something more permanent & tangible. When she sent me the link to make my own blog book I started to think about my blog even more.
Part of making the book is choosing what dates or posts you want to include. It's set up so that you can choose a range of dates, all blog posts or by label. I didn't want to include ALL of my posts so I had to go back & label them (wish I had done this previously--hindsight, right?).
Reading my old posts, I realized something...I still had weekly surveys & such back then, but I talked a lot more too. It was more ME & less about themes. I miss that realism & openness that my blog used to have. This blog was never intended to make me money, give me a name, make me a ton of friends or even really to be read by anyone expect for me. Yes, it is public & yes, I appreciate comments, but let's be honest here-- My blog is NOT popular. I have 18 followers & 5 page views daily is a BIG number for me. I don't often get comments. I don't have contests. I'm not sponsored by anyone & I don't do giveaways.
This blog was intended to record our (my) journey from TTC to pregnancy to birth & beyond. It's a record of an important & special time in our life. And WAY better then any attempt I could have made with C's baby book. =) And you know what? I'm glad for that. I didn't need anyone to read my blog to continue posting then & I don't now.
So, on that note I am going to get back to posting more that about all of that & less about Pinterest. =) Because although those theme posts are easy & can occasionally be fun...most people don't really care. I DON'T REALLY CARE. I mean seriously, I know what I pinned & I know what I did. And what do I usually do when I come across a similar post on someone else's blog? I usually skip it or scan it. I am sure that my small handful of followers probably do the same thing with the majority of my posts. And guys, I don't blame you one bit.
It's time to get back to a more authentic form of blogging & stop trying to please the masses because frankly, there are no masses. The only person I need to please while writing this blog is me. Isn't that deep down why we all really started doing this in the first place?
That IS what it's all about.
Can't to see where this is going!
